The Secrets Of A Successful Stock Or Forex Investment Club

If the investment club strikes you as an ideal answer to your needs and requirements, there here are some points to consider.

The Association of Stock Exchange Firms is attempting to win passage for a model statute that will simplify and clarify the status of investment clubs and in some states is has already been enacted. Do not attempt to form a club until you have investigated its status under Federal, state, and local laws.

In most states, however, a variety of laws govern the formation and operation of a club and its status as a partnership, corporation, joint venture, or whatever. The difficulties are rarely insurmountable, but complications can be avoided if your club will check with an attorney before becoming involved financially.

Along the same lines, your club can avoid awkward misunderstandings if the ground rules are clearly established from the start. Provisions should be made for the death or departure of a member. Each investor should be able to withdraw his share of the club 's assets at any time.

The position of newcomers or replacements for members who have dropped out or moved away should be defined. Does the new member participate on an equal basis in the accumulated assets of the club upon payment of his first $10? Or should he be expected to match the total investment of his predecessor?

Run your meetings briskly. Expect to give the business at hand your full and earnest attention for two hours; investment is too serious to be brushed over in less. On the other hand, be organized. Don't let meetings drag on or founder in confusion. Members will start resigning out of boredom.

Insist that your investigation committees do their homework. And that they stay on the point. These are elements of good reporting in any field, and are not hard to learn. Clarity and precision will not only make reports more interesting, but help you to make your decisions confidently.

Absenteeism plagues almost every organization, and you will have to find your own way to lick it. As noted, the proxy at least assures a vote by the whole membership, but it has its disadvantages. The Williston club has instituted an automatic $5 fine for missing a meeting, regardless of the excuse. Some clubs interpret a certain number of absences as evidence of disinterest and as grounds for dismissal.

As for the club 's performance as an investment group, it will, at first, leave something to be desired. There is something heady about the manipulation of money and the challenge of out-guessing the market. You will find, as you start out, that it is easy to be overly enthusiastic about one stock or another, or, because your fund is relatively small, to concentrate on low-priced issues. The enthusiasm may be warranted, and your low-priced issue may be solid, but try not to let judgment be colored by passion, and never choose price over quality.

Make your committee reports as realistic as possible. In the first flush of enthusiasm, it is possible to be swayed by the mass of beautifully printed material available about this company or that. Set up your standards in advance: know what you are looking for in terms of price and dividend trend, in terms of products, in terms of capital structure and management.

Note: Changes in corporate management are not automatically good. Very often a new slate of officers, or some retirements, will bring in fresh blood, but there is no way of knowing immediately whether the new men are as capable as the ones they replaced.

There is nothing wrong with over-the-counter stocks as such. But many clubs have found that the fluidity of the market on the big exchanges, and the certainty of daily reporting of stock prices, makes investment in Big Board issues considerably more satisfactory.

It is easy to decide that you've got a natural bent for investment if your first purchase begins behaving nicely. Don't be fooled. A great many stocks have been behaving nicely for some years now. In many ways it 's difficult to pick one that doesn't. Enjoy your success, but keep studying and keep learning.

Fight the tendency to make too many switches in your portfolio, particularly in the early stages. Remember that the commissions on getting in and out are going to eat into your gains. Furthermore, impatience is likely to boost you out of a stock before it has a chance to show its worth. Remember, too, that from the tax angle, you'll be paying on gains as straight income unless you've held the stocks for six months or more.

Finally, stay friendly. Money can get people quite excited. Money can come between friends. You'll have a better chance of success if your members are friendly on grounds other than investment, if everyone understands clearly that there are hazards as well as profits, and if everyone does his best to become knowledgeable in the field as soon as is reasonably possible.

It is the mistakes of ignorance that cause trouble. Many clubs have had some hot times because a member couldn't understand why the group sold short of the top or why, with the good old Northern & Southern Railway running right through town, everyone insisted on buying Gulf Oil.

Stay in close touch with your broker. He can help spell out some of the fundamental ABC 's until you can paddle on your own. He also should have, or be able to get, information bearing on the problems and experience of other investment clubs, which can aid you in steering around pitfalls..

Otherwise, every piece of information and advice in this article applies as rigorously to investment clubs as to investing individuals.

Use good investment and Forex software to help you research how particular shares and currencies have performed.

Your Guide To Retirement Planning

The best thing that you have to start with is to have a retirement plan. That is why it is best to put our best foot forward and save more for the future. Everything that comes will definitely go. In life, nothing is permanent in this world.

So, here 's how and when to start retirement planning: This is not a good idea because we can never tell what lies ahead. Some wait to long before they decide to plan for their future.

1. The retirement year.

First, decide on what year you would like to retire. It is always best to start something with a goal in hand. This will keep you focused and determined to push it through.

2. Do your homework.

The best way to help you start making your retirement planning is to consult your "employer-sponsored 401(k) or IRA," or to any of your retirement schemes and investigate on the objective date of your mutual funds and see if it matches your target date of retirement. If it does, then start funding your nest egg immediately.

3. Backups.

There are many instances where your plan can backfire. So, it is best to have backups.

So, when making a retirement plan, better include a backup that will serve as a fallback in case your nest eggs fails or if something else goes wrong. It is best that you do not depend entirely on your funds because sometimes there are circumstances that are beyond our control.

3. Opt for annuities.

When doing a retirement planning, you should take note also of the different retirement planning strategies that will surely make your plan work. One good example of a retirement planning strategy is the annuities.

Basically, annuities are adaptable indemnity bonds that are exclusively patterned to bestow additional wages at the same time assist you accomplish "long-term" saving goals.

These annuities are the "long-term' items recommended by most insurance companies, though, there are brokers and other financial establishments that provide this kind of service. They will help you set-up a specific goal and aim for it.

There are two types of annuity: the immediate and the tax-deferred annuity.

In the immediate annuity, you start your retirement planning by giving a hefty amount of money to the insurance company or any financial institution for that matter. After which, your payment scheme will start at once. This type of annuity is usually applicable to those who are already 60 years old and above.

On the other hand, the tax-deferred annuities you may choose whether you will pay the retirement amount instantly or make a monthly disbursement until the time you reach your target date.

This is usually appropriate to those who start their retirement planning early, generally those who are 20 years old at the least.

4. Consider the Modified Endowment Contracts.

Annuities had been heading the limelight for so many years now. Most people would go for annuities, as this is the most popular retirement planning strategy. However, like most plans, it is still vulnerable to problems and crisis. That is why, it is best to make an alternative option when making a retirement planning.

The next best retirement planning strategy is the Modified Endowment Contract or the MEC. This is, basically, one kind of "insurance policy."

In reality, MEC is similar to annuity, especially the tax-deferred annuity, in terms of the preliminary premium rates. Though, they differ in terms of tax codes.

In annuity, the tax code appears to be very unfavourable especially when the benefactor dies while the "annuity accumulation" stage is in full force. This, in turn, makes the deferred wage taxes on development suddenly becomes payable.

In contrast, the MEC resolves this problem by providing the benefactor or the beneficiaries with an "insurance rider" included in the agreement. The "insurance rider" is made to hand over the full amount to your recipients absolutely free from any taxes.

Moreover, MECs can give you the suppleness of choosing between the variable and fixed account preferences. This, in turn, will make your retirement planning relatively easier.

Nevertheless, whatever retirement planning strategy you choose, the bottom line is that it is really important to save for your retirement as soon as possible.

Most often than not, people linger on a little longer before they start making their retirement planning. This should not be the case because you can never tell what will happen next.

So, the best time to do retirement planning is now. As they say, life is suspense; you will never know what it can offer you until the end.

How To Trade Successfully In The Forex Market

This article talks about the Forex (Foreign Currency Exchange) Market and lists key elements needed to make money effectively. Some have done their homework and still received the short end of the stick, but the vast majority who turn what looks like a good investment into something that a savvy investor can smell a mile away, more times than not haven???t done their homework. The investors and speculators I???m referring to have sunk good money into investments and lost it within days, weeks or months. There are a lot of investors who have made some really questionable trades when everything looked so good.

To trade successfully in the Foreign Currency Exchange (Forex) Market, there are certain principles that must be adhered to at all times.

Liquidity is Key:

Believe me; I know from personal experience how to lose good money after bad???as do many in my family. I keep telling myself it must be genetic. One way to really get yourself in deep is to play the pink sheets, also known as penny stocks. These are the stocks which typically have very low trading volume each day and if you have enough shares it is nearly impossible to trade them without severely affecting the price of the stock. And the more volume you trade the more you begin to affect your own price whether you are buying or selling. Needless to say, I have crossed those investments off my list as of a few years ago. They just don???t have the liquidity you need to give yourself an advantage. Sure, you can find a needle in the haystack, that one in a million stock, but for every successful penny stock, thousands go under or don???t return much if any on your investment.

This brings us to the Forex Market. What better market to get the best liquidity possible. With my days of trading penny stocks, complete with their thin trading volumes, over, I am naturally attracted to trading which takes place in an arena where the definition is liquidity. When a trading arena is liquid, you can always trade your investment without affecting other positions you want to buy or sell. You don???t have the problem like you would trading penny stocks where a small move here or there dramatically affects the price of the stock you are trading. The Forex Market is too big and too many governments, organizations, funds and individuals participate.

Perfect Your Strategy:

Some of the most successful Forex Trading occurs when a person perfects their strategy and executes it to perfection each and every time based on the core belief that their strategy is the best for them. It takes practice to perfect a strategy, but most successful Forex Traders have one. They don???t simply jump on every new ???potential strategy??? or ???tip??? that comes along. From time to time it is good to try new aspects of other strategies to see if you can improve on a good thing, but to know your strategy inside and out and be able to duplicate it makes all the difference. A good rule of thumb to use is when you aren???t sure of a trade, do nothing. Don???t trade if you are not positive it fits your strategy. It also helps if you concentrate on one market at a time. Like the old adage, you literally don???t want to be a ???Jack of all trades and a Master of None???

Go Long:

Trading successfully in the Forex is about longevity. The longer you can keep trading the Forex, the longer you have to perfect your strategy and the longer you can stay in the game. It reminds me of craps when I occasionally have time to play. I have friends that can blow through $1,000 in an hour or two and then they have to take the rest of the day off so they can have enough funds left to try it again another day. I take a different approach. I can survive all day long on $500 and most of the time I can double or triple that amount and be able to stay at the table all day if I want. It is both entertainment and profit that I am after. If I stay entertained longer, I have the chance to make more money.

It can really get in the way of successful trading. Many of us don???t want to admit defeat, but it is necessary to be successful. You should always check your pride at the door when trading any market. Getting out of a losing position takes brute courage, but you will thank yourself for getting out quick if the position is not going the way you would like.

Fight the urge to get out of a position when it makes you a quick profit. Let your profits ride and you will be more successful. And speaking of profit, you will want to remember to keep your profitable positions for a longer time than you keep your losing positions. to increase your education and perfect your strategy, the more you will profit from it. The longer you can ???hang in there???

The point I am making is this: Staying power is key with any investment. strategy and I don???t try every new one that comes along in the multitudes of craps books that my friends read. The reason I can last longer is because I have perfected ???My???

As long as you stick to your strategy and make sure you let your profits ride and cut your losses, you will become successful in Forex Trading. With the tips and thoughts above, hopefully you will feel right at home trading the currencies of the most powerful nations in the world. Foreign Currency Trading (Forex) Trading is exciting.

Trading Problems - Maintaining Focus

get rid of the thought and think something else.? I once heard a statement by Rebecca Fine of www.scienceofgettingrich.net that says something along the lines of ?If what you?re thinking about isn?t something that you want to have happen in the next three minutes?

While that?s a great way to live your whole life, and I certainly try to do so, it equally applies to the process of trading, specifically ensuring that we maintain focus during the conduct of our analysis.

Maintaining focus can be difficult. Not only will you face distractions from external sources, such as the phone ringing right during a prime setup, or your partner asking for a lightbulb to be changed, or your children asking for help with their homework, but you also face internal distractions from your negative fear-based trading mindset. These internal distractions may be less obvious to the novice trader, but the results can be devastating for your profitability.

If you have not yet mastered your negative fear-based trading psychology, then you are going to face never ending distractions that divert your focus from the job at hand ? consistent implementation of your trading plan.

Regardless of how these fears manifest within your trading ? complacency, boredom, doubt, procrastination, denial ? they will lead only to inconsistent and unprofessional application of your trading plan. And that cannot lead to long term consistent profits.

How do we deal with this negative fear-based trading psychology? Well, that subject cannot be addressed in one article. I?m currently working on a complete home-study program on the mastery of trading psychology, which will provide you with the tools, strategies and techniques for overcoming these issues.

However in the meantime this statement from Ms Fine provides you with a really simple tool to add to your trading toolkit, to ensure you maintain focus during your analysis despite any internal or external distractions.

The process is similar for both long term traders and short term traders. But let?s talk short term first, because that?s primarily what I do.

As a day trader, your success comes from consistent application of your trading plan. Success comes from conducting analysis on a regular basis throughout the trading session, either on the close of each candle or on a price-alert as price reaches a certain preset level, and then acting appropriately to enter, manage or exit your trades.

What do you need to do to ensure that your focus remains on the process of trading?

Here?s what I do:

1.???Document the analysis and decision making process. Have clearly defined actionable steps that you need to carry out every candle to reach your decision to hold, enter, exit, or adjust your stop loss or profit targets.

2.???Set an alarm to go off prior to every candle. If I trade off 5 minute charts, I have an alarm go off 30 seconds before the close of each candle to allow me to pause and check my thoughts. If my thoughts are not related to the objective analysis of the market and the correct implementation of my plan, then they?re discarded. My focus is then returned to the documented trading process.

This works regardless of timeframe. If I was trading off one hour charts, I?d set an alarm to activate just prior to the close of each one hour candle. If I was trading off one minute charts, I?d still set an alarm to go off just before the close of each one minute candle. If I was just waiting for a price setup at a particular price level, and had no intentions of trading until price hit that level, then I?d just set an alarm for price hitting that target.

Setting an alarm for timeframes of 15 minutes upwards is certainly a great idea, as you won?t necessarily be sitting watching the screen the whole time in-between candles. However, you might ask whether it?s really necessary for very short timeframes, such as one minute charts. The fact is though, that it is necessary, and it does work. It is amazing how often I find my mind wandering elsewhere. More often than not, it?s thinking about something unrelated to my trading plan. The alarm interrupts this thought pattern, and allows a return of thought and focus to what?s important.

Try it, and if you find yourself suddenly wondering what the MACD shows, and it?s not part of your plan, discard that thought ? it?s irrelevant to this trade. If you find yourself suddenly thinking that you need to win this next trade to get back to breakeven, discard that thought ? it?s irrelevant to this trade. If you find yourself wondering where you should go next holidays, discard the thought. Once again, it?s irrelevant. Interrupt any unwanted thoughts, and think something else that will help you trade your plan in a consistent manner.

Oh, and so that you don?t burn out through having an alarm go off every minute for an eight hour trading session, let?s add a step 3:

3.???If you are trading a very short timeframe, program breaks into your session, to get away from the markets. Relax, recharge and refresh yourself, so that you can keep up this pace.

For longer term traders, let?s say someone trading off daily charts, the problems are the same. In your case, you have a process that needs to be followed to come up with your decisions to enter a trade, exit a trade, or modify target or stop levels.

In this case, you still need to implement step one, documented actionable steps that allow for consistent application of your plan. Consider something like a checklist, or flowchart.

You can probably dispense with the alarms, as you only need to complete the process once. However for longer term traders, I?d recommend including statements within your documented process to remind you to check your thoughts, and return them to the process of trading.

Perhaps prefix every step with a documented reminder such as, ?I am a professional trader, and a professional trader trades their plan in a consistent manner?. Then, the act of commencing each step of your nightly analysis, will serve as a regular interrupt to unwanted thoughts, and a return of your focus to the job at hand.

This way, there?s no need to be going and checking other indicators for further confirmation, when it?s not part of your plan. There?s no need to be checking other news sources for further justification of your decisions, when it?s not part of your plan. There?s no need to be emailing or phoning your friends to seek their thoughts on a particular stock or chart, when it?s not part of your documented process. These are actions of people who have lost focus, and whose trading destiny is being led by their fear and greed.

As a professional trader, you simply follow your steps. And use your alarms, or documented checklist steps, to interrupt any unwanted thoughts, and return your focus to the business of trading.

So, if you don?t already have a checklist or flowchart set up for all actions that must be carried out during your analysis, then create one. And place in it reminders to monitor your thoughts, and reject anything that is unrelated to the current task at hand.

And if you day trade, set up an alarm, either price based if you simply wait for price to hit certain levels before making trading decisions, or a countdown timer if your decisions are time-based. Then reject any thoughts that are unrelated to the process of trading. And follow your plan with consistency.

Wishing you happy, and focused, trading,
