Selling Strategies - Setting A Stop Loss

However, when we make the decision to jump into the muddy waters of the stock market, its always a good idea to have a life jacket ready, just in case. Sometimes the best way of lowering exposure to risk is not to invest at all!

Trailing stop loss. So, how to best protect yourself when the markets disagree with your due diligence? We all have stories of that "must have" "can't lose" stock that looking back, we didn't really need to buy, and it definitely lost.

Its important to understand the psychology of investing. When we make money, there is instant euphoria. When we start to lose money, there is a sudden "deer caught in the headlights" type of emotion, which makes us unable to do the right thing. We fear that the moment we sell, will be the moment that it starts to rebound. Not only do we fear that we will be that guy who sold at the low of the day, but that we will miss out on untold fortunes because we got out too early.

While this happens, more often than not, a small loss turns into a much bigger loss. Remember, a 40% loss started off as a 5% loss.

So what is the best stop loss strategy? Well, we happen to have 2. One simple, one a little more complicated, but possibly more effective and capital saving.

The first strategy is called a "trailing stop loss". Its simple and effective. We're going to add a small twist to it. A traditional trailing stop loss simply means that you set a percentage that you are willing to lose. For example, if you purchase 1000 shares of ABC at $5/share, you could set a stop loss at 10%. This means that if the stock dips below 10% of your purchase price ($5 - 10% = $4.50), you're out of the market and no longer risking capital. If the share price moves higher, you would set your stop loss at 10% below the closing price. If ABC moves to $5.50, you would set your stop loss at $4.95. If the stock drops below that price, you're out.

By setting your stop loss at the time of your purchase, you are taking the emotion out of investing. Specifically, you are taking out the "deer caught in the headlights" emotion. This will save you grief and will save you money. If your stock moves like you think it will, you can lock in your gains automatically.

Our twist to this strategy though, is to first establish the dollar amount that initial stop loss is worth, and let that dictate what your stop loss will be.

Given the same example as above, your initial stop loss would be $4.50. You would only be risking $0.50 per share or $500. This represents the most you are willing to lose, regardless of which way the investment goes.

If the share price moves to $7.00, instead of setting your stop loss at $6.30, (thus risking $0.70 or $700 of your money), you would set your stop loss at $6.50, which risks the same $500 you were initially willing to lose when you first started.

This little twist helps you keep more of your profitable investments. Why put more profits at risk?

The second stop loss strategy is, although a little more complicated, will protect more of your money.

While we would love to take credit for this strategy, we found it when reading Chart Trading by Darryl Guppy. This strategy starts by looking at your overall capital, not the amount of the specific investment. For example, if you had $20 000 in your investment account, you could trade 51 times if each time you invested you put 2% of your total capital at risk.

While 2% doesn't sound like a lot, lets have a look at an example. Given your investment account has $20 000 in it and you only want to put 2% of it at risk, you would be willing to risk $400 per trade. This ensures that you will have 51 chances to get it right before you run out of money.

Where you set your stop loss is basically the point where you are risking $400. Given our initial example, your stop loss would be at $4.60. If the price moves from $5 to below $4.60, you have lost $400. What if you purchased 2000 shares at the same $5? Your stop loss would be then set to $4.80. Anything below that, and you have risked more than $400. If you think that you want a deeper stop loss, then you would purchase fewer shares. The idea is simple: you never risk more than the same amount per trade.

As the price increases, you then change the amount of your stop loss accordingly. If the stock hits $7, you would set your stop loss at $6.60.

This will lower the number of chances you have at getting it right. Your 10% stop loss would put $1000 at risk. However, what if you purchased 2000 shares at $5 each?

Given our initial stop loss strategy, assuming you lost $500 each trade, you could lose approximately 40 times before you ran out of money.

On the other hand, if the market disagrees with you, you can still keep the majority of your money! This way, when your hard work pays off, you'll appreciate it more. Its much better to think about the amount you are prepared to lose.

Many investors think of the ways they are going to spend their profits before they are made. Its up to you how much money you are preparing to risk.

7 Elements for BetterTrades

However, it took me years of study, mistakes and the school of hard knocks to get to where I am today - a world known successful trader. The excitement of hope for a better life, the power to control your future at your fingertips, and the awe of finding out you can trade with a strategy is so awesome when you see first see the light. I will never forget what it was like to be brand new!

Lately I have had a lot of new traders in my online webshops.

I am going to break each one down for you, and let you know what I have made available to help you speed up your learning process light years ahead of what it took me. In reviewing what has made me successful, I have come up with seven things I did that were critical elements to me becoming a successful trader.

ONE
EDUCATION

I took the time to educate myself (and I made sure I learned from successful traders). It amazes me how many students say they are serious about trading, but they don't treat it like a business or college education. If they only knew how powerful the market can be financially, they would take the time to LEARN everything they could before they EARN.

I have often used an example of a brain surgeon. A brain surgeon would never get away with saying "let me just do a few brain surgeries and then I when I have made enough money I will go to medical school". No serious income producing profession works this way. You study, practice then do business. Why would the stock market be any different. And here is a secret" the stock market pays so much BETTER than most highly paid professions do!

Please don't put the cart before the horse. Take the time to learn, so you can properly practice, then you will be ready to do real trades. If you have to deal with a spouse or significant other that wants you to make money before this process, sit them down, look them straight in the eye and talk from your heart. Explain this is really important to you, then tell them the benefits (what 's in it for them) once you can make money trading. Explain to them that it is necessary to do this right, and how you need to treat it like a business or a college education. Trading before you are ready is backwards and very costly. Most businesses don't even break even for a profit the first three years, but trading can pay off fast if you study quick and hard, and perfectly practice first. I studied and practiced for two months, before I did my first real trade.

TWO
TRADING TOOLS

Tools are critical! Set yourself up with the right trading tools you need to be successful. Just like starting a business or going to college, there are costs involved. For trading, the costs are so small compared to years in college or opening a new business. There are basically three tools you need to trade properly.

1.
A charting program I use TRADE NAVIGATOR
2.
A research site I use THE DEDICATED TRADER
3.
Real Time Data I use REAL TIME MARKETS
(intra-day charts, stock & news alerts)

It is easy to make an excuse and short change yourself to skip a tool or two, but it only comes back to hurt you. Practicing without the right tools makes for bad practice, and this is one situation where I see a lot of "wanna be traders" mess up. They skip the tools to cut costs, but they can't trade right without them. What often happens is they lose their money and quit trading permanently. If you really want to make trading work, invest in yourself and set yourself up to win with the right tools. Trust me - YOU ARE WORTH IT!

THREE
Pick one strategy and Perfectly Practice

You must pick one strategy, and PERFECTLY PRACTICE it before you use real funds. I just wish, for all of you new traders, that you did not have a dime to trade with. Why? Because then you would be forced to PRACTICE! I know many of you are cheating and trading real money right now and you are not ready too!

Here is what I know, and have witnessed over the last 7 years of teaching students how to trade. If you practice trading with real money, you will likely lose it learning, and lose it FAST. When you are new, you think you know what you are doing but you DON'T and you are DANGEROUS! At this point most people who have lost their money just give up and go back to working hard for a living.

If instead, you practice perfectly first, you should get to the point that you are so excited you can't stand it. Bottom line, when you know you know it works" because you win all the time, it will drive you crazy. It is just not fun spending pretend money, so at this point, you will find a way to get money! You will sell something, get a second job, whatever it takes, because you know beyond a shadow of a doubt trading does work! It is at this stage you are actually ready to start trading with real money and not a minute sooner! Get the proper education, perfectly practice first and then you will have the solid ground critical to become the successful trader you want and deserve to be. All I can say, is make it work, because you WANT my lifestyle!

FOUR
Use a PROVEN TRADING SYSTEM

A strategy alone is not enough! You must have a proven system to trade a strategy successfully. The system must:

Record your trade in writing
Be your back up brain
Alert you to entrance and exits points in real time data
Have safety nets in place
Include insurance for any trades you stay in overnight
Keep you on track with your trade, al all times and in all places
Must be easy to use

I teach you this POWER SYSTEM in my LEAPS two day class, also available on DVD'S. This system is my simple secret weapon, to powerful trading. Call 1-800-346-9039 for details and pricing (or for anything I mentioned).

Here is what Normal Griffin of Weimar, CA had to say about my system after years of struggling with trading:

From using Darlene 's
SIMPLE SECRET WEAPON
her proven system from her LEAPS CLASS

I went from
one out of five
to
four out of five
winning trades
And it gets better" I now make
four times as much money
on each trade"
[and my trades that cost money
cost so much less then they use to!]

FIVE
LEARN HOW TO TRADE THE MARKET

It is critical that you learn how to actually trade the market. It is not enough to just pick a strategy, and have a system. You also need to understand how to trade the market itself!

This may be a new thought process for many of you, but basically the market in and of itself is an amazing animal. Understanding how the market works will allow you powerful entry and exit opportunities. There are tips that you need to learn and use for profitable entries and exits in and out of your trades. Things I teach in my Q 's class such as the first and last hour secrets, and trading indicators. These are trading opportunities you can't afford to miss. They help you to see when a trade is not good to enter, how to know when there is no need to panic on a trade you are in, and to fine tune your trigger finger to exit fast when it is critical turning point in your trade. I have had seasoned traders who have been trading for years tell me that they can't believe they ever traded before without this information. They basically said they were trading blind and didn't even know it.

My LIFESTYLE TRADING THE Q 's class live (or DVD 's ) is all about teaching you how to trade the market. I just wish someone had taught me this when I was learning. It took me over 8 years to learn this, and now you can learn it in one day and be up and running for huge profits light years ahead of what it took me.

SIX
PROSPERITY

Take the time to study prosperity. If you want to be financially solid, and you are not' take the time to find out what has been holding you back and fix it fast! A great place to start is reading the book:

THE DYNAMIC LAWS OF PROSPERITY

It does not matter how great your strategy is, how useful your trading system is or how good you are at understanding the market" if deep down inside you feel you don't deserve to be wealthy, you are not going to be able to be successful at anything, including the stock market. This type of a program running in you will sabotage your success every time. This book was a major turning point in my life and success came so fast after I realized I DID DESERVE TO BE WEALTHY!

SEVEN
FORM A MASTERMIND TEAM

A very important proven factor that financially successful people do, is they set themselves up with a team of like-minded people.

You need a mastermind team to be successful at trading.

This is a group of people you keep in contact with, that trade and can be supportive (versus friends that laugh at you and think your stupid trading, and tell you that you will lose your money).

I have a group called Darlene 's TRADER TALK that meets twice a week, we talk about trades, market conditions, and everything about the market. It is very powerful. I can hand hold and help you in these classes until you are ready to be on your own, but even then many students stay for the mastermind team of it.

I hope you use this information for direction you need to take in your trading. If you are lacking in any of these seven areas I encourage you to step up to the plate and dare to make trading work! I think one of the hardest things about trading is just to commit. Once you have decided you are serious about trading, it become easy to treat it like a business and the results will follow fast!

I look forward to seeing you soon in one of my live or on-line classes. Hang in there, and never give up. If you need help reach out and get it and learn from your mistakes. Remember though"

EXPERIENCE IS A GREAT TEACHER"
AS LONG AS IT'S SOMEONE ELSE'S EXPERIENCE

Happy Trading,

Darlene with BetterTrades

Forex Trading - Should You Invest?

Forex trading does involve other assets along with money, but because you are investing in other countries and in other businesses that are dealing in other currencies the basis for the money you make or lose will be based on the trading of money. Forex trading is all about putting your money into other currencies, so you can gain the interest for the night, for time period or the difference in trading money all around.

What happens in one market will have an effect on the other countries forex markets, but it is not always bad or good, sometimes the margins of trading are near each other. Constant trading is done in the forex markets as time zones will vary and the markets will open in one country while another is near closing.

A forex market will be present when two countries are involved in trading, and when money is traded for goods, services or a combination of these things. Currency is the money that trades hands, from one to another. Often times, a bank is going to be the source of forex trading, as millions of dollars are traded daily. There is nearly two trillion dollars traded daily on the forex market. Should you get involved in forex trading? If you are already involved in the stock market, you have some idea of what forex trading really is all about.

The stock market involves buying shares of a company, and you watch how that company does, waiting for a bigger return. In the forex markets, you are purchasing items or products, or goods, and you are paying money for them. As you do this, you are gaining or losing as the currency exchange differs daily from country to country. To better prepare you for the forex markets you can learn about trading and purchasing online using free 'game' like software.

You will log on and create an account. Entering information about what you are interested in and what you want to do. The 'game' will allow you to make purchases and trades, involving different currencies, so you can then see first hand what a gain or loss will be like. As you continue on with this fake account you will see first hand how to make decisions based on what you know, which means you will have to read about the market changes or you will have to take a brokers information at value and play from there.

If you, as an individual want to be involved in forex trading, you must get involved through broker, or a financial institution. Individuals are also known as spectators, even if you are investing money because the amount of money you are investing is minimal compared to the millions of dollars that are invested by governments and by banks at any given time. This does not mean you can't get involved.

Your broker or investment advisor will be able to tell you more about how you can be involved in forex trading. In the US, there are many regulations and laws in regards to who can handle forex trading for US citizens so if you are searching the internet for a broker, are sure you read the print, and the information about where the company is located and if it is legal for you to do business with that company.

Trading Practice and Better Trades

Believe me, I so understand where you are at - I started the exact same way. I call this the READY - FIRE - AIM syndrome. It is so hard to watch students jump before they are ready, but I see it time after time. If you only knew what we know, after years of trading and teaching students, you would do whatever we tell you and never break a rule.

Milk not meat! When you are new at this game called the stock market, you will find it necessary to start off with the basics.

We start you off here, to help protect you from potentially more dangerous trades, until you can begin to grasp how the market works, to understand options a little better, and just get more comfortable with the language of the stock market. Using a delta of .70 to .90 is the basic starting point to work with. There are so many things to teach you in the beginning to only buy options with a high delta.

Once you have attained and can begin to comprehend the basic knowledge, and you have had a chance to get your feet a little wet, then I can teach you in my

how you can estimate how long you will want to stay in a trade, and how to modify your trading strategy to use options with lower deltas. This can become very powerful, not to mention profitable, when you learn this advanced but simple technique.

I have seen many new students buy what we refer to as "THE KISS OF DEATH" options" which is a front month (the next month to expire), out of the money option. I understand how attractive these options look, being so cheap to buy and so profitable if the trade works. But the key word here is "IF"! These short-term options can be very risky, since time is not on your side! As a new unskilled trader (even if you think you know what you are doing) your thought process isn't exactly perfect yet.

With so many market traps awaiting the new trader, it is imperative that you first use practice trades to hone your trading skills. Many students skip the critical step of practice trading, before getting down to the business of trading real money. This can quickly become one of their major downfalls and often take new traders out of the game permanently. If you practice trading with real money, and you discover your technique is wrong, you are now wrong and broke! It is so easy to give up at this point and say the stock market doesn't work. The bad news is that typically means you have to go back to your JOB!

There are only a few trades I would consider using risky front month, out of the money options for. They include:

* To buy Insurance on a trade (see LEAPS DVD 's )
* To do a strangle over earnings or expected serious news announcements
* To do a BULL PUT SPREAD (BUPS)

I don't think I could stress enough how critical it is for you to practice perfect trades before using real money. And NO cheating!

You are not ready to trade with real money until you have PERFECTLY PRACTICED trading on paper so well that it is driving you crazy! I mean absolutely wild. Why? Because it is at this point that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that trading works! You are winning most of the time, and it is not REAL money - it is pretend money! Now you are serious, and you will do whatever it takes to get the money to trade - sell something, take on a part time job, but you now know trading DOES WORK! It is at this point, and only at this point, that you are finally ready to start using real money to trade. Did it work that way for you, or have you been cheating yourself? If you have been cheating yourself, please stop the madness now and do it right!

It is interesting how professional traders realize the importance of practice trades, and continue to practice along with their real trades. This keeps them up on hot stocks they may have just started to notice. But they practice them on paper until they get to know the heartbeat of the stock. Then BINGO" they can get in on some sweet deals when the timing is perfect, while others sit on the sidelines wishing they made that sweet trade!

On the other hand, I find it funny that only amateur traders think they are too good to practice trade. Well here 's an important secret" overlooking this one element of practice trading (until you are perfect) is a critical error in judgment! So critical that many traders who cheat, by skipping practice trading, most likely will not make it in the market anyway! Is it worth the risk to take this terrible shortcut? Absolutely not!

I think there are three critical things that are needed to become a successful trader:

1. You need to study and pick one strategy to trade. One that fits your lifestyle and your personality. Once you have found your strategy, please take the time to PERFECTLY PRACTICE it first.
2. You need a system to monitor your practice trades (and eventually your real trades). This fine tunes your entrance and exit timing, in addition to using safety nets and insurance. (See my NEW LEAPS DVD 's if you are not familiar with how to use safety nets or how and why to buying insurance).
3. You also need to understand how the stock market itself works. (Learn this in my NEW Q 's DVD 's ).

In my next newsletter I am going to address how to understand the actual workings of what we call "AMATEUR HOUR", so you can use this for better entrance and exits into and out of trades, in addition to knowing when NOT TO PANIC if you think the trade might be turning around. I will address how "Amateur Hour" is not a time issue (an hour), but instead is a "THING"! You don't want to miss this discussion!

In parting, I just want to encourage you to stick to trading. Practice Perfectly first, and once you get this right" you will begin to see why I am so excited about my lifestyle" because it will become yours! I am just an ordinary person, who decided to follow the rules, and stick to it until my trades worked. I am so in awe of how my life has turned out, and even better how I have been able to help students learn what I know in a fraction of the time and cost it took me to learn it.

You deserve all that you ever dreamed of, so let 's go get it for you! I look forward to being a part of that process for you!

Happy Trading,

How To Buy And Trade Stock

Stock Trading Investment Can Fetch You Exceptionally High Returns

While this is partially true, the notion of risk arises only when one makes any investment without really understanding the market or the trends that influence the economy. Most people think that this is one of the riskiest platforms for investment. What do you feel when you think of stock market?

How To Succeed In Making Profit From Your Stock Trading Investment?

Success in this field is a cocktail of right information, thorough market knowledge and an ability to take calculated risks. Any stock trading investment if manipulated correctly would be able to pay you rich dividends in terms of profits. There are two ways to make stock trading investment ? (1) through a reputed broker or brokerage house, and (2) directly through the Internet.

The first option would have you make your stock trading investment according to the advice and opinions of financial experts who constantly analyze and gauge the mood of the market. The advantage of going through brokers is that you minimize the risk involved as these people are highly experienced with this task and seldom make any serious mistakes.

The second option is that you make your own stock trading investment directly over the Internet. With adequate planning and correct risk assessment you could end up with some substantial profits in a very short time. Planning is very important here as this is the only base on which you would base your decision on when to buy and when to sell your stock. Unless you have a thorough understanding of the market, you would not be able to do this with success.

Like a great gambler, you should know when to press your advantage and when to quit. In fact if anyone would ask you the principle of successful stock trading investment, this would be it ? know when to quit. The only aim in this game its to make profit.

The best strategy is to make two types of stock trading investment ? the first type would the highly volatile shares that continuously fluctuate but mostly end up higher than they started, and the second option would be to invest in rock solid companies which would only grow over the time. Both are money makers; however, the first option can bring in some dazzling returns within a very limited time provided you are willing to take adequate risks while the second option would mature slowly and steadily like good wine, becoming more precious with the passing time.

Easy Ways To Learn How To Trade Stock Options

Are you wondering how to trade stock options? It is not as hard as it is made out to be; however, it does need a certain amount of expertise if you are planning to make a career out of this opportunity. Often people who trade stocks feel they are qualified enough to trade in options. This is not always so. Before you venture in this field, the best you gather as much information about the topic as you can and thoroughly educated about it.

Take Baby Steps While Learning How To Trade Stock Options

If you want to be successful in this business, you need to be thorough with your preparation. The first step in the preparation process is gathering as much information as possible. You could this by researching on the Net, reading up to date relevant books, talking to people who are already in this business, and even looking up the specific software that option traders use so you could have a feel of how to trade stock options as a professional.

Once you feel you have gathered enough information and you understood this business as thoroughly as can be, you could move to the next step which is virtual practice. Set up an imaginary account and simulate the actions that are required for trading after which carefully assess your decisions. Did you loose or gain money? Were you able to anticipate the direction in which the market moved? Were you in sync with current trends? Keep practicing in this way until you are sure you know how to trade stock options.

This is the point where you come to test your ability in real life trading. In order to test your knowledge and expertise on how to trade stock options you would need to find a mentor in the world of stock options brokers and have an account opened under their tutelage and guidance. Before doing so, you would have to enter into an agreement with the said broker on the terms and conditions of your apprenticeship.

Do not be ashamed to ask for guidance from your mentors as they have plenty of experience to back their decisions and influence yours. Test the waters with a small investment first, focusing more on safety than high profits and keep doing this until you feel confident about taking well calculated risks that rake in better profits.

By and by you would be able to trade stock options as an expert, and very soon you too would be in a position to be someone 's mentor.

Analyzing Your Investments With The PEG Ratio

A thorough analysis of these dueling indicators reveals that one is definitely superior to the other. The former has been around for as long as the stock market itself, the latter originated more recently. The two most important numbers that investment analysts look at when evaluating a stock are the P/E ratio and the PEG ratio.

The ratio is calculated as follows: Using it, an investor can get a sense of whether a stock might be overvalued or undervalued. It is used to calculate how expensive or how cheap a stock is relative to its earnings. The P/E is the price-to-earnings ratio.

P/E = Price per share / Earnings per share

The price per share is the current market price for a single share of stock. The earnings per share is the net income divided by the total number of shares outstanding. You can find net income by looking at a current income statement, which almost all corporations now make available on their company website.

The lower the P/E, the cheaper the stock is. The higher the ratio, the more expensive the stock is relative to its current earnings. However, that does not give you the full picture. The reason why some companies sometime trade at very high price-to-earnings ratios is because they are expected to grow tremendously in the months and years ahead. So, investors are willing to pay more than what the company is currently worth because they feel the company will be worth a lot more in the future.

So, you should not necessarily run away from a company with a high P/E. In fact, those companies are sometimes the best investments, because if their earnings climb tremendously, then the stock will pay a large dividend in the future (for the uninitiated, dividends are a percentage of the profits of a company that are distributed to its shareholders). So, a high P/E ratio can be a very good thing or a very bad thing.

As with a high P/E, a low P/E can also be tricky. If it is low, this could be an indication that the earnings of the company are expected to plummet, causing investors to run away from the stock, resulting in a low share price.

Or, the low ratio might indicate that the company is currently undervalued, making it a good buy because as long as the company is expected to have stable earnings growth in the future, then the share price will go up. It is not easy to discern whether a high or low ratio is good or bad; you need to take into account the expectations for future earnings growth to understand if the P/E ratio is a positive or a negative.

The pitfalls of using the P/E ratio to interpret the relative worth of a stock resulted in analysts coming up with a better measurement, which is known as the PEG ratio. The PEG refers to the price-to-earnings growth ratio. It is calculated like this:

PEG = (P/E) / Annual earnings-per-share growth

The lower the PEG ratio, the more undervalued the company is. A PEG ratio of 1 or less is considered excellent. For example, if a company has a P/E ratio of 30, and annual earnings-per-share growth of 50%, then the PEG would be 0.6, making this company an excellent buy because it is undervalued and the stock price will almost definitely climb. However, if a company has a PEG of 1.5, that means that the stock price is high relative to the earnings growth, which means that unless the company is supposed to grow at a faster rate in the years head, the stock price might not hold up.

So, it is obvious that the PEG is a much more valuable tool for investors to use. It reveals whether the high price of a stock is justified based on whether earnings will grow enough to continue to drive the stock higher.

Therefore, using the PEG, you can truly ascertain whether the price is currently too high and whether it is a good time to buy the stock. Increasing earnings are the driving force behind an increase in the price of a stock. The P/E falls short in this regard because it does not take into account by what percentage earnings are growing each year.

Research carefully the companies you are going to invest in and you will do fine. They may not go up right away, but in the long run they should increase significantly, unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the company. Try to set aside some money for investing, and begin to analyze stocks and buy the ones that have a low PEG.

I hope this information has helped you form an understanding of how to evaluate stock prices.

BetterTrades Timing Importance

It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading. It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading in the stock market. It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading in the stock market. It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading in the stock market.

It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading in the stock market. It amazes me the thought process a lot of students go through when it comes to trading in the stock market. Especially when it comes to trading in the stock market. Timing is everything!

First, you do NOT have to have all your money in the market at all times to make a fortune trading.

Second, you should not have all your trading funds in the market at all times ever!

Third, wait for a stock to come to you. What I mean is for it to be done falling to play the upside, or done going up to play the downside " but don???t enter in the middle of nowhere on a trade.

I like to use about half of my funds to trade and have the other half available for some fantastic, unexpected buying opportunities that might come around once in awhile or to double up on a trade that has not exactly worked out as fast as I had planned.

What I am about to discuss I have slightly touched on somewhat in a recent newsletter, but since timing is so critical, and I still see seasoned traders after years of trading still not getting this" I feel the need to stress it in more detail.

When I wrote my 40 CENTS DVD series, it was in a hopes of helping students see the power of waiting for stocks to reach the perfect point to play them. Where is that perfect point? It is really not that hard to find. I like to look at support and resistance using candlesticks. To me I want to get in at the very beginning of a run to the upside or a fall to the downside.

UPSIDE:

I will wait for the stock to stop falling. I look for a market close doji or open candlestick at support as a sign it may have stopped falling. However, it is critical to confirm it with a continuation pattern the next trading day. The next day if the stock continues up I enter the trade intra-day for the upside. If it is moving up and down and I am not quite sure, then I use the high of yesterday to give me an entry point. If it breaks that high, I can enter. However, if it is not going up DO NOT ENTER" but I see so many students enter here anyway and I just want to scream WHY DID YOU DO THAT!

DOWNSIDE:

I wait for a sign that the stock has stopped rising, a market close doji or closed candlestick at resistance as my sign it may have stopped going up. Remember I still need to confirm it the next day. The next day if the stock continues to fall, I can enter the trade intra-day to play the downside. If it is moving up and down and I am not sure, then I use the low of yesterday to give me a confirmed entry point. If it breaks that low, I can enter. It is really easy to set an alert to my cell phone to let me know it hit that point, instead of watching the stock all day to see if I can enter the trade. However, if it is not going down DO NOT ENTER" just use common sense before entering a trade and profits can be yours!

OTHER CONCERNS:

Of course you want to look at other trading indicators to confirm direction" and there are a lot you could pick from. My rule of thumb is to just pick 5 you love and that???s ENOUGH! Here are some of my favorites:

1. Support and Resistance
2. Using candlesticks with number 1
3. Volume
4. Exponential Moving averages 4 & 8
5. Bollinger Bands

Then always consider market conditions. If the market is too high and the signs say it has to fall (sentiment indicators) then look for stocks that follow that market at resistance to play the downside. Don???t try to play stocks to the upside with this scenario" again just use common sense and go with the FLOW of the market.

Remember some stocks do not follow the market. This means if the market is going down they go up, they do the opposite of the market. In this case you should already be able to see that is happening so you would do the opposite of the market for the trend on these stocks. An example is OIL; if the market is running up OIL is usually running down in price, etc"

Some stocks have compelling reasons to run up even against market conditions, such as a stock running into an earnings report or a stock split, but the market is due to fall. In this case set your bail alerts daily and if it turns over get out of the up trade fast. However, you can play these against the market falling or about to fall if you are good at exiting fast if the trade goes against you. If you tend to stay in the trade too long don???t play trades against market direction even if the stock has a compelling reason to do the opposite. Wait until you are more seasoned and understand that pulling the plug when a trade goes wrong is critical, not to mention it can be very profitable when you exit and switch hats to play the other direction.

I wish you huge success trading. Sometimes the simplest things are the most important. Buy low " sell high! I hope to see you soon in a live class. Below is the schedule for my upcoming classes.

Happy Trading,

How To Use Online Stock Trading For Your Success

You might only make enough money to use in your next investment but with online stocks the door is truly open. In the age of the information superhighway there is a whole world of varied stocks that you can build wealth with. Regardless of the ups and downs, and there are many on the rollercoaster that is stocks; stocks are an exciting game that has a place for anyone. Many investors will tell you that trading in stocks might be the good old-fashioned way of investing, but it works.

The online trader is also completely in control or his or her stocks. Because of the lack of human contact and advice given, buying online stocks gives you the opportunity to get into the game without the high fees of your average broker. Like most online shopping, most of the stocks that are for sale online are available in the real world market, but they cost more.

You can start online with cheaper penny type stocks and you can even purchase some of the high-end stocks for a couple of hundred dollars a share. Online stocks are a huge market.

Trading online does mean that you will have to be familiar with certain terminology. To do so we have compiled a list of some select of the most common available online stocks and their meanings. We suggest you take these means and do some more research. Let?s look over what kind of stocks can be brought and purchased online and in the real life stock market.

Penny Stocks: While not all ?penny stocks? actually cost a penny, they are the cheaper stocks on the market and are considered cheap and dirty by some. Others however have made large profits by trading in penny stocks, because once the price raises you can sell the many stocks you have purchased and make a return. Penny stocks are normally available for upstart or new companies who want to offer their stocks at cheaper prices to get them off the floor. Trading in penny stocks is a common form of online trading.

Blue Chips: Like their name suggests blue chips are premium stocks. Blue chips are the stocks of companies whose names you hear every day. So if you look at the steel that your fence is made from or the airline you fly with, you will probably find that their shares are blue chips. Because of the ?assurance? that blue chips will continue to grow, they generally cost a fair bit and are amongst the highest priced stocks. Blue chips are known for being strong and either maintaining their price or slowly growing over time. Blue chips also have the added value of climbing rather rapidly after a fall or at least recovering quickly.

Bonds & Futures: Bonds include municipal offers and can be issued by the companies. Futures however normally relate to farming crops, so if the oranges crop is doing well the orange futures will also do well. Futures also include wheat, livestock and other farming products.

The availability will depend on which website you are using and what they have access to. If you really search you can buy almost any kind of stock online, all it takes is someone willing to sell them.

Like any form of stock trading, just because you can now buy and sell your stocks online, that doesn?t mean that you should forget all about being careful and doing your research.

Investment Strategies

How you invest now may be the difference between a comfortable retirement, and working for the rest of their life, and we have put together a list of do?s and don?ts to secure a comfortable retirement. Investment strategies for the long term are a vital to our future.

Tip #1 Educate yourself

There are people out there who play the stock market like they play the lottery. This is very dangerous, gambling on the stock market is the equivalent of going to Las Vegas and putting your life savings on the line. With any investment that is going to provide a decent return, there is risk. How much risk you take on with any investment directly affects the return. The general rule of thumb is, the higher the risk, the higher the return on your investment, and likewise, the lower the risk, the lower your return. The risk of investing into just a savings account has been explained. While investing in stock is riskier, educating yourself can reduce the amount of risk you take on. This includes finding out what common terms are and what they mean. Understanding the financial statements of the company you want to invest in, and understanding the market that you are investing in.

Tip #2 Devise a plan

This step is just as important as the first, having the education is useless without having some kind of direction. Decide where you want to be by the time you retire, where you want to be when you hit fifty. Evaluate where you are now and what you want to accomplish in the next year, you can never plan too much. You will also need to decide what kind of retirement you want to have. Do you want to maintain the quality of life you have now? Do you want to retire rich? Filthy rich? Or do you want enough to just get you by every month? Realize what you want to do and devise a plan.

Tip # 3 Investing is vital to your retirement

This cannot be stressed enough. It used to be that you worked for a company for 30 years until you retire, you get your office party and the faux gold watch, but you had a pension and social security waiting for you afterwards. Nowadays you have companies cooking the accounting books, and executives being the only ones with guaranteed pensions, and CEO?s abandoning their companies leaving their employees with nothing while they take their guaranteed multi-million dollar pensions home. What does this mean? It means that the person with your best interest is you. Nothing is guaranteed any more, not even social security. Corporations are replacing pensions with 401k plans, in essence they are shifting the responsibility for your retirement from them to you. It is up to you to decide whether you want to invest in your future. Realize that if you decide not to invest at all, you are throwing you future away.

Tip # 4 Research Research Research

There are so many reasons that you need to research whatever investment vehicle you choose. Whether its real estate, stock, whatever, you should never invest off of an assumption. Most investors refer to this as due diligence. First and foremost, never invest off of a ?tip.? There is always someone out there that knows what the next big investment is. They?ll tell you to buy some shares of so and so stock because they are guaranteed to give you phenomenal returns. While the advice may have some truth, it is best to do a little research first before putting any money into it. When doing research, it helps to understand financial statements. In general, if a company has more costs than it does revenue, this means the company is not turning a profit. In 2000, Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) was selling its shares at $113.00 per share, all while never having turned a real profit since the company started. Today Amazon?s stock can be bought for $45 a share. Imagine if someone invested their entire life savings into Amazon?s stock at this time, they would have less than half of what they saved left. This is the reason for the most recent stock market crash, investors were buying shares from companies that could not show a profit. Companies were having lavish office parties every week because their stock was flying through the roof, all while their product sales could not fund these expenses. Another reason for the recent stock market crash is because a lot of investors invest with emotion rather than knowledge. Over the holidays investors feared another terrorist attack, so they sold shares fearing another attack would drive the stock market back down. The emotion was fear. And that fear is detrimental to the stock market. If enough investors get scared and begin to sell their shares, the market will surely drop. If more investors are buying than selling, the stock market will rise.

Tip # 5 Inflation

If it would take $2 million to retire today, find out what $2 million will be by the time you retire, otherwise you will be selling yourself short. A good example of inflation, is how a million dollars today, isn?t what it was 20 years ago, and it wont be what it is 20 years for now. In other words, as time goes on, prices rise. The Webster?s dictionary defines inflation as: an increase in the volume of money and credit relative to available goods and services resulting in a continuing rise in the general price level.

It is important to know that as it pertains to your future, inflation is not good. The final tip is also a part of research, understanding inflation.
